Private car service from Salt Lake City to Provo starts at $160 for a sedan and $220 for an SUV.
Provo is about forty-five miles south of Salt Lake City. The drive normally takes forty-five to sixty minutes. Rush hour and university events can extend that to sixty to ninety minutes. Brigham Young University and the Provo City Center Temple anchor the downtown area.
Roads we actually use
The route is almost entirely I-15 south. Drivers usually pass through Sandy, Draper, and the Point of the Mountain before reaching Utah County. For BYU and downtown Provo, exits at University Parkway or Center Street are typical. For southern Provo or Springville, the route continues to exits near 1860 South.
Traffic by time of day
Northbound I-15 into Salt Lake City is heavy from 7:00 to 9:00 AM. Southbound is heavy from 4:00 to 6:30 PM. The Point of the Mountain section and the Utah County line are regular bottlenecks. BYU football games and commencement events can create unusual Saturday and weekday congestion.
When to add buffer
Add twenty to thirty minutes during rush hour. Add forty-five minutes to an hour for BYU football home games or major university events. Winter weather in Utah County is usually milder than in the mountains, but ice on I-15 can slow the entire corridor.
Vehicle options and pricing
Sedans start at $145. SUVs start at $220. SUVs are recommended for groups, winter travel, or anyone with large luggage. Business travelers heading to Provo tech offices or BYU usually book sedans.
Who books this ride
Business travelers, BYU visitors, and religious travelers make up most of the demand. We also handle transfers for conferences at the Provo Marriott and events at the BYU campus.
