Our drivers use I-15 south for almost every Murray trip. The 4500 South exit works for the central Murray and Fashion Place Mall area. The 5300 South exit is better for the eastern side and Intermountain Medical Center. I-215 east is an alternative for addresses near Murray Boulevard.
Traffic by time of day
Northbound I-15 into Salt Lake City is slow from 7:00 to 9:00 AM. Southbound is slow from 4:00 to 6:30 PM. The 4500 South interchange gets busy during mall hours and lunch periods. Midday transfers are usually the fastest.
When to add buffer
Add ten to fifteen minutes for morning or evening rush. Add fifteen to twenty minutes if your destination is near Fashion Place Mall during peak shopping hours. Medical appointments at Intermountain Medical Center should include a small buffer for parking lot and entrance traffic.
