Private car service from Salt Lake City International Airport to Park City starts at $160 for a sedan and $225 for an SUV.
Park City sits about thirty-five miles east of the airport on the other side of Parleys Canyon. The drive is one of the prettiest in the region, but it is also where ski traffic and weekend congestion live. Plan on forty-five to fifty-five minutes in normal conditions. Friday afternoons and powder mornings can take seventy to ninety minutes.
Roads we actually use
The route is almost always I-80 east through Parleys Canyon to the Kimball Junction exit or the Park City exit. For Deer Valley and upper Main Street, drivers often continue on SR-224. The canyon has two lanes each direction for most of the climb, so any slowdown has limited escape routes.
Traffic by time of day
Weekday mornings see commuter traffic into Salt Lake City from Summit County, but outbound is usually clear until 3:00 PM. Friday afternoons from 2:00 PM onward can back up badly. Powder days at Park City Mountain and Deer Valley bring heavy morning traffic from 7:00 to 10:00 AM. Sunday afternoons reverse with skiers heading back to the airport.
When to add buffer
Add thirty minutes for any Friday or Sunday transfer. Add forty-five minutes during Sundance Film Festival in late January, especially if your destination is near Main Street. Winter storms can trigger traction law requirements and chain controls in the canyon, so winter bookings should always include extra time.
Vehicle options and pricing
Sedans start at $155. SUVs start at $225 and are strongly recommended from November through April. Ski equipment, winter boots, and heavier luggage take up significant space. AWD or 4WD vehicles handle Parleys Canyon far better when snow is falling.
Who books this ride
Ski groups, film festival attendees, and Deer Valley vacation renters make up the bulk of this route. Business travelers also use it for meetings at the Montage or St. Regis Deer Valley.
